On September 6th at the Yesul-ui Jeondang Concert Hall
The legendary Korean violinist Kyung-Wha Chung and star pianist Dong-Hyek Lim will have their first duo stage on September 6 at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center, announced classical concert planning company Credia on the 25th.
Although this is the first duo stage for Kyung-Wha Chung and Dong-Hyek Lim, they performed together seven years ago. At the DITTO 10th Anniversary Festival, they played Schubert's Piano Quintet "Trout" alongside violist Richard Yongjae O'Neill, cellist Tae-Guk Moon, and double bassist Minje Sung.
The upcoming September concert will begin with a solo performance by Kyung-Wha Chung. She will perform Bach's Partita No. 2 for solo violin. Partita No. 2 is the most beloved among Bach's solo works, thanks to the famous "Chaconne." Kyung-Wha Chung received much love, achieving platinum status with her 2016 album "Bach: Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin."
Kyung-Wha Chung will then perform Brahms' "Violin Sonata No. 3" and Franck's "Violin Sonata" together with Dong-Hyek Lim.
Violinist Kyung-Wha Chung is a pioneering musician who introduced the name of Korean classical musicians to the world stage by winning the Leventritt Competition in 1967.
Pianist Dong-Hyek Lim began his rise by winning the Long-Thibaud Competition in 2001 and has placed in all three of the world's top competitions: the Chopin Competition, the Tchaikovsky Competition, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition. He is also the subject of a syndromic popularity, being the first classical performer to have a fan club formed.
Both Kyung-Wha Chung and Dong-Hyek Lim are currently active as Warner Classics artists.
Before the Seoul Arts Center concert, Kyung-Wha Chung and Dong-Hyek Lim will also present the same duo program at the Jeonju International Sori Festival on August 16.
Tickets for the Seoul Arts Center concert are available for reservation starting from the 25th.
