S-1 Talent Development Center Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Resort-Grade Upgrade

Visiting the Newly Renovated S1 Talent Development Center in Person

Located in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, the S-1 Talent Development Center is about 10 minutes from Mokcheon IC and can be reached from Seoul in just over an hour. The S-1 Talent Development Center is Korea's first security-specialized training institute and has served as a cradle for security professionals. Recently remodeled, it has expanded its scope to provide not only teamwork-enhancing training for employees of large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises but also building facility management training for companies offering building management services.

On the 24th, S-1 announced that the Talent Development Center has trained 600,000 trainees over 25 years. Yoon Seong-hyun, head of the Education Operations Group at the S-1 Talent Development Center, said, "Since its opening in 1998, it has been the only security-specialized training institute in Korea, nurturing professionals responsible for safety."

The center's representative program is the ‘Team Building Training.’ It has been recognized for excellence by winning the Korea Human Resources Development Grand Prize four times. Through membership training, participants can boost their confidence and work motivation, and simple team activities like rowing machine competitions enhance organizational cohesion. An S-1 official introduced, "This training, which involves sweating and enjoying together, helps relieve work stress and fosters unity among team members, achieving a twofold effect, which has led to a surge in trainees." Since its effectiveness in improving teamwork and confidence was recognized, it was first introduced as part of Samsung's new employee training program in 1998, and now participants include not only general companies but also financial institutions, schools, and local governments.

Marking its 25th anniversary, the S-1 Talent Development Center recently completed renovations. Targeting the main demographic of the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z), the cafeteria, accommodations, and lecture rooms were upgraded. In particular, the accommodations were transformed into a luxury resort. There are 127 double rooms and 25 triple rooms available. Since the accommodation is where trainees spend the most time outside of training hours, special care was taken in its design.

The lecture rooms can accommodate 190 people at once. The 21 lecture rooms vary in size to accommodate groups from 8 to a maximum of 215 people. They are designed to support various lecture formats, from large-scale lecture-style classes to small group discussions, creating a space conducive to generating creative ideas. To ensure free shopping without staff interference, a 24-hour unmanned convenience store was introduced. Additionally, there is a fitness center that can accommodate 50 people at once, as well as a sports field built to international soccer field standards.

The ‘Blue Asset Technical Training Center’ at the S-1 Talent Development Center, completed in 2016, is Korea's only comprehensive building management practical training facility. It provides hands-on training by replicating hazardous situations such as power outages, fires, and elevator accidents that are difficult to reproduce in actual buildings, targeting major external companies like the Seoul Business Agency, Samsung Electronics, and Samsung C&T. It is regarded as having elevated the quality of building management services in Korea to a new level.

Previously, building management technical training had to be outsourced to equipment manufacturers or specialized training institutions, which was inconvenient. However, the Blue Asset Technical Training Center has installed 29 pieces of equipment across five major building facility fields?electricity, machinery, fire safety, and more?all in one place. S-1 is the only company in Korea to have a training center that consolidates building management facilities. For fire response training, fire detectors activate alarms, emergency lights turn on, and fire shutters descend, allowing trainees to practice real fire scenarios. The training center trains about 500 experts annually and has trained over 3,000 building management professionals to date.
