Handonghun: "Prosecutor Kim Yeo-sa Investigation Should Have Considered Public Expectations... Chaesangbyeong Special Prosecutor Proceeding Naturally"

"Don't you have anything to say besides special prosecutor... Will cooperate with opposition parties"
"Third-party special prosecutor law, still the same thought... Will discuss"

Han Dong-hoon, the newly appointed leader of the People Power Party, said on the 23rd that "the prosecution should have considered the public's perspective more when deciding on the investigation methods" regarding the prosecution's investigation procedures of First Lady Kim Keon-hee.

After being elected at the party convention held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, Han told reporters, "The First Lady made a decision to undergo a face-to-face investigation, which had been delayed until now. I believe the prosecution should conclude the matter fairly and swiftly." This was in response to questions about the prosecution's private investigation of the First Lady and the controversy over bypassing the Prosecutor General in reporting.

Earlier, on the 20th, the prosecution conducted a private investigation at a facility managed by the Presidential Security Service regarding allegations of stock manipulation related to Deutsche Motors and suspicions of receiving luxury handbags.

When asked whether he would push for the 'Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act' with a third-party recommendation system, which he advocated during his candidacy announcement, Han replied, "I will address the issues our party faces one by one in a proper manner." Regarding the opposition parties' unified call to quickly advance the third-party recommended Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act immediately after his election, he said, "It seems the opposition parties have little else to talk about besides the special prosecutor," adding, "I also say that I will cooperate with the opposition."

When asked if he would push forward with the special prosecutor bill despite opposition from lawmakers within his party during the process, Han said, "Politics is a living thing, and I just became the party leader today," adding, "There are procedures within the party." He continued, "I believe that by proposing the special prosecutor bill recommended by a third party, various breakthroughs have already emerged. Since then, the situation has changed in many ways, and former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung has outright rejected the third-party special prosecutor bill I am proposing," and concluded, "My intention remains the same, and I will discuss it through democratic procedures within the party."
