Agreement Signed to Promote 'Busan Open Consortium University'
Profit-Oriented Integrated Industrial Complex, Specialized Residential Talent Development
Dong-A University (President Lee Hae-woo) and Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) have signed a memorandum of understanding with Busan Metropolitan City to strengthen cooperation for the 'Glocal University 30 Project'.
The agreement was signed at the 'Vision and Innovation Strategy Briefing for the Designation of Dong-A University and Dongseo University as Glocal Universities', held at Busan City Hall on the 22nd.
The event was attended by President Lee, President Jang, Mayor Park, as well as officials from Dong-A University, Dongseo University, Busan Metropolitan City, the Ministry of Education, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Busan Employers Federation, BISTEP, and other related organizations.
The Dong-A University and Dongseo University alliance announced plans to establish the 'Busan Open Consortium University for the Joint Benefit of Busan and Universities', designating four specialized fields: ▲Energy Tech (power semiconductors, hydrogen) ▲Biohealth ▲Cultural Contents ▲Busan Heritage. Through university-industry-government collaboration, the alliance aims to advance industries and secure growth engines for the region.
Through this agreement, Dong-A University and Dongseo University Glocal Consortium University and Busan Metropolitan City will cooperate in establishing and operating a joint university-industry-government governance system, building and operating specialized field campuses and fostering resident-type talent, investing KRW 100 billion in the Busan Future Growth Fund to achieve Asia's No. 1 position in specialized fields and create a new industry ecosystem, successfully promoting a revenue-generating integrated industrial complex, attracting and supporting excellent foreign students in employment and settlement, and advancing Busan as a global city through balanced regional development.
President Lee stated, "The development direction proposed by the Dong-A University and Dongseo University consortium aligns with Busan's key initiatives for university-industry-government cooperation, and I expect it will play a significant role in maximizing synergy. Today's agreement will serve as the starting point for the selection and successful implementation of the Dong-A University and Dongseo University Glocal University, nurturing outstanding talent, encouraging them to settle in Busan, and playing a major role in fostering future new industry companies in Busan."
