Gumi City Where Young Dreams Take Flight... Fun City on the Rise

First Achievement of Gumiyeong Energy Project

Successful Start with Runners from the Running Competition

On the 21st, the city of Gumi in North Gyeongsang Province hosted the first event of the ‘Gumi-Young Energy Project’, titled the ‘Night Run Festival’, at Nakdonggang Sports Park and Water Park to support the creative ideas and challenges of young people.

Gumi City Where Young Dreams Take Flight... Fun City on the Rise On the 21st, Gumi City held the first project of the 'Gumi Young Energy Project,' the 'Night Run Festival,' at Nakdong River Sports Park and Water Park.

This event was organized by Gumi Running Crew and combined running?a rapidly rising healthy hobby among young people?with a water bomb party. Over 500 participants, including youth and local citizens, enjoyed a running competition and a DJ pool party at Nakdonggang Sports Park, one of Gumi’s most popular outdoor activity destinations.

In addition, in collaboration with the 2024 Heungeol Concert organized by Maeil Newspaper, various side events such as stage performances and promotional booths were held, allowing both running competition participants and citizens to enjoy together.

Through these activities, the city aims to provide leisure and cultural content for young people, contributing to Gumi’s image as a vibrant and exciting city for youth.

Mayor Kim Jangho said, “Congratulations on the successful hosting of the Night Run Festival, the first project of the Gumi-Young Energy Project, which was born from the creative ideas and passion of young people. This event goes beyond a simple sports event and will become an important opportunity to energize our local community and help realize the dreams and challenges of our youth.”

He added, “We will continue to strengthen our support for the unique ideas of young people so that Gumi can transform into a more attractive and vibrant city for youth.”

Gumi Running Crew (led by Lee Inkyu), established in November 2023, is the organization that hosted the Samiljeol Charity Race earlier this year. On September 21, they plan to hold a trail race at Ecoland, featuring three courses: Kids Race, 14km, and 25km. Side events offering experiences in running, culture, and exhibitions will also be held. Registration opens on July 9 through the Gumi Running Crew Naver Cafe.
