KB Securities, 24-Hour Real-Time Currency Exchange Service Boosts Exchange Transaction Amount by 309%

KB Securities announced on the 22nd that customer accessibility has increased with the provision of 24-hour real-time currency exchange services (Monday to Saturday until 10 a.m.), resulting in a significant increase in currency exchange transactions.

Earlier, the Ministry of Economy and Finance extended the foreign exchange market operating hours (from the previous 3:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. the next day) starting July this year to fully implement the 'Foreign Exchange Market Structure Improvement Plan.' KB Securities, through collaboration with KB Kookmin Bank and internal system development, has been providing 24-hour real-time currency exchange services since December 2023.

The 24-hour real-time currency exchange service expands the available exchange time to 24 hours, applying real-time market exchange rates so that customers can exchange currency at their desired time.

According to an analysis of usage data for the 24-hour real-time currency exchange service from January to June 2024, the number of currency exchange transactions increased by 57% compared to the same period last year, and the transaction amount rose by 309%.

A KB Securities official stated, "In the past, customers had limitations in responding to exchange rate fluctuations, but after providing the 24-hour real-time currency exchange service, both the number of transactions and transaction amounts have increased significantly," adding, "We will continue to proactively identify customer demand and provide services in advance."

Real-time currency exchange is available from Monday to Saturday until 10 a.m., and currency exchange services are also provided on public holidays (excluding Sundays). However, it should be noted that due to system maintenance, transactions are restricted for 30 minutes from 11:45 p.m. to 12:15 a.m. the next day during the exchange hours.

Currently, currency exchange services are offered for four major currencies (US Dollar, Japanese Yen, Hong Kong Dollar, Chinese Yuan), and the range of currencies available will be expanded in the future. The 24-hour real-time currency exchange service can be accessed through KB Securities' Mobile Trading System (MTS) KB M-able, M-able Mini, Home Trading System (HTS) H-able, M-able Wide, and the 24-hour desk.
