At the Entrance of Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground
The 'Hampyeong-gun Mugunghwa Exhibition' will be held at the entrance of the water playground in Hampyeong Expo Park, a popular summer destination, to commemorate the 79th anniversary of Liberation Day.
According to Hampyeong-gun on the 18th, this exhibition, now in its third year, will take place for one month from the 19th to the 18th of next month. It will display 70 varieties of Mugunghwa and 50 artworks. In addition to Mugunghwa artworks, summer flowers such as hydrangeas and various other plants will be arranged together to provide a diverse visual experience.
The county expects that many tourists from the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas visiting Hampyeong to enjoy the summer will also appreciate the beauty of the national flower, Mugunghwa.
Mugunghwa is the national flower of Korea and is a deciduous broadleaf shrub belonging to the Malvaceae family and the Hibiscus genus. It blooms continuously for about 100 days from July to October every year, which is why it is named Mugunghwa (meaning "eternal flower"). It blooms most brilliantly around Liberation Day.
Lee Sang-ik, the mayor of Hampyeong-gun, said, "I hope everyone fully appreciates the beauty of the Mugunghwa that blooms and fades endlessly, while honoring the spirit of patriotism and fostering the spirit of national defense and veterans affairs."
