From LPGA Tour Dana Open to Commentator Debut
Retired Last March, Winner of National Titles in 5 Countries
This year’s retiree Yoo So-yeon is stepping into the role of a broadcast commentator.
JTBC Golf announced on the 18th, "We have appointed Yoo So-yeon as a commentator," adding, "We expect her to deliver a vivid and engaging experience to viewers based on her extensive tournament experience and understanding." She will begin commentary starting with the Dana Open of the LPGA Tour, which opens on the 19th. The Dana Open holds a special significance for Yoo So-yeon as it was the tournament where she won her first title after entering the U.S. in 2012. She used this victory as a stepping stone to also win the Rookie of the Year award.
Yoo So-yeon will also provide commentary for the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, BMW Ladies Championship, and the Annika Driven by Gainbridge tournament. Yoo So-yeon is a player who achieved six wins on the LPGA Tour and reached world No. 1. She left the field after the LPGA Tour major Chevron Championship in April. After retiring, she sought a second career and will continue her connection to golf as a TV broadcast commentator. Yoo So-yeon also accumulated 10 wins on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour. She achieved a unique feat by winning national titles in five countries: the U.S. Women’s Open, Korean Women’s Open, Canadian Women’s Open, and China Women’s Open.
