Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic Receives 100-Eye Certification for Presbyopia Cataract Zimetric Lens

Kim Jaebong, the chief director of Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic, received the 100-eye certification plaque for the Bibinex Geometric Lens, which was launched last year after 10 years of research by Hoya Corporation, a globally renowned global lens company.

According to Gwangju Shinsegae Eye Clinic on the 17th, the 100-eye certification plaque for the presbyopia cataract Geometric Lens received by Director Kim is the first for an eye clinic outside of two large eye clinics in Seoul.

The Bibinex Geometric Lens, which comes in two versions, Geometric and Geometric Plus, is characterized by having effects on both cataract treatment and vision correction according to their respective features.

The Geometric lens focuses on correcting vision for distant and intermediate distances, while the Geometric Plus lens emphasizes near-focus correction while also providing good vision for distant and intermediate distances.

The Geometric lens is a multifocal lens that combines refractive and diffractive types, with the diffractive rings located on the inside and the refractive type on the outside.

Compared to typical diffractive lenses that have 15 diffractive rings, the Geometric lens reduces the number of diffractive rings to 8 to minimize light scattering.

Additionally, it uses a Gaussian smoothing technique that softly polishes the edges of the ring heights to further reduce light scattering.

The Bibinex Geometric Lens features an aspheric optical design that reduces light scattering and spherical aberration.

The lens material is also made of a biocompatible, high-grade hydrophobic acrylic material, providing comfort to patients during surgery.

Director Kim Jaebong stated, “By proactively introducing the Geometric lens to replace the existing natural lens with an artificial intraocular lens, it is possible to achieve both cataract and presbyopia correction effects, providing improved vision.”

He added, “Based on meticulous and systematic examinations to understand the individual’s eye condition and the presence of other diseases, I recommend consulting with skilled and experienced medical staff to select the artificial intraocular lens that best suits your eyes.”
