70s Academy Bus Driver Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Molesting Sisters

Court: "Victim Under Protection Was Treated as a Means to Satisfy Sexual Desire"

A 70-year-old academy vehicle driver who habitually molested two sisters has been sentenced to prison.

On the 17th, the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon District Court Criminal Division 1 (Presiding Judge Jeon Kyungho) sentenced Mr. A (72), who was arrested and indicted on charges of violating the Act on the Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes (forcible molestation of a minor under the age of 13), to five years in prison.

In addition, the court ordered him to complete 80 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and imposed a seven-year restriction on employment at institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities.

Mr. A was accused of forcibly molesting the bodies of two sisters who used the academy vehicle from February to September 2023.

The court stated, "The victims testified that since 2022, they have been able to get off the vehicle without assistance and never asked for help, and that they felt uncomfortable every time the defendant touched their bodies," adding, "The defendant used the victims, who should have been protected, as objects to satisfy his sexual desires, which makes the nature of the crime egregious and will clearly have a negative impact on the growth of the child victims."
