'Baemin Vest' 2,000 Units Sold Out... Additional Production
Delivery Supplies Noted for Both Practicality and Safety
Baedal Minjok's delivery gear designed exclusively for riders is gaining popularity. The first product, the 'Baemin Vest,' sold out all prepared stock in less than a month. Its popularity stems from its high practicality, meticulously incorporating necessary features for the delivery process while also prioritizing safety.
On the 16th, Woowa Brothers, the logistics service team of Baedal Minjok (Baemin), announced that the Baemin Vest, launched last month, has sold out and additional orders have been placed. The sales volume currently stands at 2,000 units shipped. A Woowa Brothers representative explained, "As production orders continue to be placed, the order volume surged rapidly, and the prepared stock has now been depleted."
In mid-last month, Woowa Brothers opened the 'Baemin Connect Smart Store,' which produces and sells delivery gear exclusively for riders, releasing this vest as their first product. It was created based on actual interviews and market research to be worn during delivery work. The vest uses mesh fabric to be suitable for all seasons and weather conditions, features an adjustable waist belt for versatility, and includes all necessary functions for riders such as Velcro patches, multi-purpose pockets, and two-way zippers.
What Baemin particularly emphasizes is the enhanced safety based on surveys conducted with riders. In an evaluation conducted in April with delivery riders on the field, the main risk factors identified were slipping accidents caused by deteriorated road conditions due to rain or snow, accidents caused by other drivers running red lights or speeding, and slips caused by poor road conditions. It was also noted that the smaller size of two-wheelers compared to regular four-wheel vehicles reduces visibility, which contributes to accidents.
Accordingly, the Baemin Vest applies a mint color to increase visibility so riders can be recognized from a distance, and it is designed with reflective fabric to ensure safety at night. This vest was also introduced at a safety and health seminar hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency on the 1st.
Following the vest, Woowa Brothers recently released a helmet as the second Baemin rider wear product. It was produced in collaboration with Hongjin HJC, a leading domestic company holding the number one market share in the global motorcycle helmet market. This helmet also uses mint color to enhance visibility and applies the high-performance material 'polycarbonate,' used in aircraft and automobiles, to improve heat resistance and impact resistance. Additionally, it features ventilation holes at the front and rear for heat dissipation and includes a UV-blocking eye shield to protect the rider’s vision from ultraviolet rays.
A Woowa Brothers representative stated, "Since Baemin rider wear is produced and launched exclusively for riders, we plan to develop a diverse range of products based on various reviews and surveys in the future," adding, "We will continue to advance rider safety measures considering the characteristics of the delivery platform."
