Proactive Vehicle Inspection by Changsin Police Substation
Changsin Police Substation of Hyehwa Police Station in Seoul announced on the 5th that they apprehended an unlicensed driver, a hit-and-run suspect, and an illegal immigrant through proactive vehicle inspections for crime prevention.
On the 25th of last month, Changsin Police Substation discovered a suspicious vehicle whose registered owner did not appear in the database. They followed the vehicle for about 600 meters, then stopped it and conducted an inspection. Four foreigners were inside the vehicle, and the officers requested passports and alien registration cards to verify the driver's identity.
When they asked a foreigner crouching nervously in the back seat to present a passport or ID, the individual refused, claiming they had left their identification behind. Through persistent questioning, the officers obtained a passport saved on the person's mobile phone and confirmed that the individual was a wanted suspect and an illegal immigrant.
A police official stated, "Through active crime prevention patrols, we were able to establish law and order by apprehending wanted suspects and illegal immigrants," adding, "We will continue to do our best to ensure citizens' safety and prevent crime."
