A stampede occurred at a Hindu event held in northern India, resulting in 87 deaths so far.
According to local major media outlets such as NDTV on the 2nd (local time), the accident took place at a Hindu worship site in the Hathras area of Uttar Pradesh. The accident site is reported to have been made of tents. About 150 people were hospitalized with injuries, and the death toll may increase.
The police stated that the accident happened due to an overwhelming crowd and did not specify the number of participants. The state government formed an investigation committee after receiving news of the accident to assess the situation.
