Reminding the Value of Time and Fostering Cultural and Artistic Sensibility
The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education Student Arts and Culture Center (Director Lee Haeseon) will hold a performance of "The Store That Sells Time" at the Grand Theater of the Student Arts and Culture Center at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both the 4th and 5th, targeting over 3,000 elementary school students in 5th grade and above.
This performance is designed to remind students of the importance and value of time and to nurture their cultural and artistic sensibilities.
The play is an adaptation of "The Store That Sells Time," a novel by author Kim Sunyoung, which was unanimously selected by judges at the 1st Jaum & Moeum Youth Literature Award in 2011.
The story follows the protagonist, who lost their firefighter father at an early age and, inheriting their father's will to help those in need, opens an online cafe called "The Store That Sells Time" under the nickname Chronos. The protagonist and friends then wisely resolve various problems that arise.
Lee Haeseon, Director of the Student Arts and Culture Center, said, "This play is a participatory performance that humorously and delightfully explores the duality of time, an essential theme in the humanities, while engaging with the audience. I hope this performance, which offers both fun and inspiration, will help students realize the importance and value of time."
