"Fastest to Reach in Animation History"
Eighth for Disney·Pixar Works
Disney Pixar's animated film 'Inside Out 2' has surpassed $1 billion (approximately 1.385 trillion KRW) in ticket sales in the shortest time in animation history. According to the U.S. box office tracking site Box Office Mojo on the 1st (local time), the film recorded $1,014.81 million (approximately 1.4055 trillion KRW) worldwide as of the previous day. This achievement was reached just 19 days after its release. Disney described it as "the fastest record ever reached in animation history."
This film is the eleventh animated work to exceed $1 billion in ticket sales. It is the eighth from Disney and Pixar studios. It is also the first film released this year to surpass $1 billion. It is the second highest-grossing film after 'Barbie' (which earned $1.44564 billion) released in July last year.
According to local media Deadline, countries where the film gained popularity outside North America include Mexico ($81.9 million), the United Kingdom ($40.2 million), South Korea ($39.2 million), Brazil ($39 million), and Italy ($31.3 million).
Pete Docter, director of the first 'Inside Out' and Pixar's Chief Creative Officer (CCO), emphasized, "Amazing storytelling is the true foundation of Pixar," adding, "It may seem like a simple story about cars, bugs, or monsters, but at its core, it is a story about ourselves and our experiences that we hope to resonate with the audience."
