POSCO Holdings Publishes Sustainability Management Report
Jang In-hwa, Chairman of POSCO Holdings, stated, "We will elevate the ideology of steelmaking for national prosperity to 'materials that open the future' and develop the entrepreneurial spirit of the founding generation into 'innovation toward becoming a top global leader.'
On the 28th, Chairman Jang said in the '2023 Sustainability Management Report' published by POSCO Holdings, "The foundation that made today's POSCO Group possible was the unwavering dedication to steelmaking for national prosperity, the indomitable entrepreneurial spirit, and the infinite devotion and sacrifice of our executives and employees."
Jang In-hwa, Chairman of POSCO Group, is delivering the keynote speech on "Innovation for Future Competitive Edge" at the Global Steel Conference held in New York, USA, on the 18th (local time).
He continued, "In the steel business, we will launch low-carbon products early and realize a low-carbon supply system by developing innovative new technologies such as carbon-neutral steelmaking technology through global cooperation," adding, "We will enhance operational efficiency across the entire value chain of the secondary battery materials business and thoroughly prepare to maximize business performance during the market recovery period through continuous investment."
This report includes the Group's ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) strategy and the ESG management status and achievements of 14 domestic and international business companies, including POSCO Holdings.
In particular, this year, to identify the demands and expectations of various stakeholders, the double materiality assessment system was advanced, and for the first time, the core ESG issues and the results of selecting key ESG issues for the five major business sectors of △Steel △Secondary Battery Materials △Infrastructure △Energy △Trade were disclosed.
Additionally, a new climate change response report (TCFD Report) was established, summarizing physical and transition risks required by global disclosure standards and the Group's business proportions linked to the EU taxonomy, introducing governance, strategy, risk management, and indicators/targets related to climate risks and opportunities.
A POSCO Group official said, "This year marks the 20th anniversary of publishing the Sustainability Management Report," adding, "We plan to continuously expand the scope of ESG performance reporting based on consolidated sales to proactively respond to the mandatory ESG disclosures by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB)."
