Kang Min-su, Commissioner of the Seoul Regional Tax Office, nominated as a candidate for Commissioner of the National Tax Service.
Kang Minsu, the nominee for Commissioner of the National Tax Service (NTS), stated on the 27th, "I will sincerely prepare for the confirmation hearing while deeply considering the role of the NTS and the direction of national tax administration."
On the same day, Kang said, "Although I have many shortcomings, I feel a heavy sense of responsibility upon being nominated as the NTS Commissioner." The NTS Commissioner holds a vice-ministerial rank but, as the head of a key power institution, must undergo a parliamentary confirmation hearing.
Kang, who hails from Changwon, Gyeongnam, graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration and earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Birmingham in the UK. He gained practical tax administration experience at field offices such as the Busan Jeju Tax Office and the Central Anyang Tax Office, and served in the headquarters as Planning and Finance Officer, IT Information Manager, and Planning Coordination Officer.
The Presidential Office explained the reason for nominating Kang as "the right person to steadily carry out the NTS's major tasks based on his extensive experience in overall tax policy and outstanding communication skills."
