On the 26th, Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, stated at the '2024 Construction Day' ceremony held at the Construction Hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, "We plan to actively support overseas construction expansion, normalization of PF projects, and expansion of housing supply to help revitalize the construction industry."


The ceremony was held under the theme "Building a Stronger Republic of Korea." At the event, Minister Park said, "I hope this becomes a valuable occasion to reaffirm the unified determination of construction workers to maintain the status of a global construction powerhouse despite difficulties such as rising construction costs."


The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Minister Park, 18 members of the National Assembly including Maeng Sung-kyu, Chairman of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, 12 heads of construction-related organizations including Han Seung-gu, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Construction Associations, as well as government award recipients and their families, totaling around 700 people.


The Silver Tower Industrial Medal was awarded to Lee Sang-min, CEO of Sinjeong Construction, and Ji Moon-cheol, CEO of Samji L&C, for their contributions to major national projects and construction development. The Bronze Tower Industrial Medal was given to Yoo Jeong-ho, CEO of Yooho Construction, and Son Byung-hoe, Chairman of Yeongdong Construction. The Iron Tower Industrial Medal was presented to Han Man-cheon, CEO of Jaesung Construction, and Choi Hyuk-geun, CEO of Jinseong General Construction.


Industrial awards were given to three individuals including Lee Gye-young, CEO of Darim Construction. The Presidential Citation was awarded to six people including Choi Hyuk, CEO of KCM. The Prime Minister's Citation was given to six people including Park Jong-wan, CEO of Gyesung Construction, and the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Citation was awarded to 90 people including Choi Kyung-rae, CEO of Woongjin General Construction.


The Construction Day event has been held annually since 1981 to enhance the status of the construction industry through the unity and determination of 2 million construction workers.
