26th Economic Ministers' Meeting
'Plan to Provide Youth-Customized Wedding Spaces through Additional Opening of Public Facilities'
The government will open facilities owned by local governments and public institutions, such as the National Museum of Korea and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, as wedding venues.
On the 26th, the government announced the "Plan to Provide Youth-Tailored Wedding Venues through Additional Opening of Public Facilities" at the Economic Ministers' Meeting. This measure is a follow-up to the "Youth-Friendly Service Development Plan" announced in March this year.
The government decided to newly open a total of 48 spaces, including five national facilities such as the National Museum of Korea and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, ten outdoor spaces in national parks, and Sejong Lake Park. Going forward, the government plans to continuously discover spaces desired by youth through public opinion gathering and other means, aiming to open more than 200 public facilities as wedding venues by the end of 2027.
To allow engaged couples easy access to information related to public wedding venues and enable them to select their desired space, an integrated search and reservation service will be provided on the Gongyong Nuri website. Gongyong Nuri is a web and app service built and operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety that allows the use of administrative and public institution facilities and goods during idle times.
By entering keywords such as "wedding" or "ceremony" on the website, users can search all public wedding venues nationwide at once. Through the "Our Village Wedding Venue Rental" thematic map, users can check the locations of public wedding venues in their desired area as well as convenience facilities such as parking lots and electric vehicle charging stations available for guests.
After viewing detailed information such as usage fees, capacity, and whether a reception is possible for each facility, users can select their preferred venue and rental date to make a reservation. Starting July 1, the government will provide search and reservation services for 80 locations including national parks and local government facilities, and plans to add about 60 more spaces including public institution facilities in the future.
