On the 24th, a post titled "My friend read my fortune for me, and it’s ridiculous" was uploaded on an online community. The author, A, who has been close with the friend for over five years, began by saying, "My friend suddenly told me she went to get a fortune reading, and the fortune teller said she had plenty of time and to ask more questions, so she thought of me and asked about my fortune."

A explained, "We remember each other’s birthdays, and I had previously talked about my prenatal dream and even told her the time I was born, so she seemed to remember. I told her I don’t believe in that stuff, but my friend was amazed because the stories about my life and personality matched perfectly. I had been struggling with my father and mother, and the fortune teller said, ‘Your friend has very bad luck in her early years and no parental blessings. It’s pitiful,’" she described the situation.

Since A usually does not believe in shamanistic faith, she tried to brush off her friend’s words by saying, "It’s kind of interesting," but her friend B said, "I was going to keep it to myself, but I’m telling you now," and advised A, "It seems like your husband has a woman, so watch closely." A got upset and asked, "What are you talking about?" B apologized, saying, "Everything else was right, so I’m worried and telling you. I hope you don’t take it the wrong way."

A said, "I was very uncomfortable. It’s ridiculous enough that she read my fortune without permission, but I don’t understand why she would pass on bad news instead of good." She added, "It’s funny how after hearing bad news, I started paying close attention to my husband’s behavior. I had suspected a relationship between my husband and a female coworker before, but it turned out to be nothing. It’s really absurd."

Angry, A asked B for the address of the fortune-telling place, but instead of giving it, B repeatedly apologized, saying, "I’m sorry for upsetting you." A said, "She keeps apologizing, but I don’t know how to shake off this uneasy feeling," and asked for opinions.

Netizens who read the story responded with comments like, "Why would a friend read another friend’s fortune in the first place?", "Seems like the friend is jealous of A," "Maybe the friend made up the story," "It’s better not to pass on bad news," "The friend seems nosy," "That’s why I don’t believe in fortune-telling," and "Only the husband got hurt for no reason."

On the other hand, some netizens said, "The friend read the fortune out of concern for A, but people are only reacting harshly," "If it were me, I’d be grateful for the difficult news and treat her better," and "If something had happened with the female coworker in the past, the fortune teller would be accurate, right?"
