At this event, the Commission operated a promotional booth under the theme 'Gongu Bank (BANK)' and conducted differentiated promotions emphasizing AI training source data that the public can freely use without copyright concerns.

In addition to promoting AI training source data, visitors experienced on-site how to apply for and use AI training source data, which users usually find difficult, and the Commission introduced and guided over 1,000 booth visitors on how to use AI training source data and shared works.

Since 2022, the Commission has been promoting the AI Seed Project using shared works to reduce the burden of securing training data and resolve copyright issues in the domestic AI industry. As of the end of last year, it has built over 7 million AI training source data items in eight categories including video, image, language, and autonomous driving, which are provided free of charge on the Gongu Madang website.

In particular, this year, reflecting opinions that there is a lack of Korean-style AI training source data in the domestic AI industry, it will build about 180,000 Korean-style source data items. The fields to be built include Korean folk paintings, traditional architecture, Taekwondo, and webtoons, and these will be serviced on Gongu Madang starting in December.

A Korea Copyright Commission official said, "There is a demand for high-quality data to train AI models for students and startup workers to collect materials for AI research projects and entrepreneurship," adding, "We plan to continuously build and provide initial data that is essential for the demand base."

The Commission is also scheduled to participate in the '2024 Metaverse Expo' held at COEX from the 26th to the 28th, where it will introduce and promote AI source data without copyright and cost concerns.
