Dankook University presents the original dance drama "The Dream of the Pagdal Tree, Blooming Flowers," depicting the life of Beomjeong Jang Hyeong, the founder and independence activist, in honor of the Month of Patriots and Veterans.

The dance drama, to be performed on the 19th at Yongin Poeun Art Hall to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Beomjeong's passing, is inspired by Beomjeong's independence activities across the Korean Peninsula and Manchuria during the Japanese colonial period, as well as his life as an educator after liberation.

The performance features the "Dankook University Korean Dance Troupe," composed of 80 dance students, combining media art and dance. It is structured into △Act 1 (Joseon and the Korean Empire) △Act 2 (Growth, Toward Freedom) △Act 3 (Song of Independence) △Act 4 (Burning Flame) △Act 5 (Dance of Liberation) △Epilogue (The Dream of the Pagdal Tree, Blooming Flowers).

Professor Choi Eun-yong (Department of Dance), who serves as director and artistic director, stated, "We are proud to invite the citizens of Yongin to learn about the life, philosophy, and historical footsteps of independence activist Beomjeong through the beauty of our dance."

Beomjeong Jang Hyeong was born in 1889 in Yongcheon, Pyeonganbuk-do. While attending Boseong Professional School, he crossed over to Manchuria to devote himself to the independence movement after Korea lost its sovereignty.

After liberation, he worked with Baekbeom Kim Gu to establish the Institute for the Training of Nation Builders, focusing on nurturing talent. In 1947, he founded Dankook University, the first four-year private university established after liberation.
