Governor Kim Tae-heum Secures Consecutive Investments in the Netherlands
Chungnam Governor Kim Tae-heum is on the verge of surpassing 20 trillion won in investment attraction during the 8th local government term, following consecutive successful investment deals in the Netherlands.
According to the province on the 17th, Governor Kim signed an investment agreement worth 225 million USD (304.2 billion KRW) with Dutch companies NewCold and SHS on the 13th and 14th (Korean time).
As a result, the total domestic and foreign investment attracted since the launch of the 8th local government term has increased to 19.3688 trillion KRW from 163 companies.
Since the first investment agreement with the food conglomerate Daesang in July 2022, the province has steadily signed agreements over two years with leading domestic and international companies such as China’s Nanjing Zhonggong, Japan’s Doshin Polima, Hanwha Solutions, Hyundai Engineering, Samsung Display, and Celltrion.
The estimated number of new jobs created through these investments is 42,700.
The province expects that if it attracts more than 1 trillion KRW in investment within this year, the total will exceed 20 trillion KRW.
A provincial official stated, "Once the companies attracted domestically and internationally begin full-scale operations, they will have diverse and significant impacts on the regional economy, including direct value-added generation, job creation, and growth of related industries. The 8th local government term of Chungnam Province will conduct strategic attraction activities based on analysis of domestic and foreign companies to achieve results beyond the set goals."
