Performances, Exhibitions, and Experience Events to Reflect on the Value of Veterans Affairs
Gijang-gun, Busan will hold the "2024 Gijang-gun Patriots and Veterans Appreciation Festival" on June 22 at the area around the Dahengbokhan General Social Welfare Center to mark Patriots and Veterans Month in June.
This event is organized to promote the significance of honoring patriots and veterans, foster unity among residents, and contribute to the development of a culture of respect for patriots and veterans.
Hosted by Gijang-gun, the event is a collaborative effort with the Gijang-gun Council, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Busan Social Workers Association Gijang Branch, Gijang Community Self-Sufficiency Center, Gijang Urban Management Corporation, and Gijang Volunteer Center.
Notably, this is the first veterans event organized by a local government in Busan. Members and families of the 10 veterans organizations in Gijang-gun, as well as the general public, are invited to participate together.
Moving away from the traditional ceremonial format, the festival will feature veterans and their families as performers in the commemorative ceremony, and residents will take part in operating exhibition and experience booths, creating an opportunity to feel and reflect on the value of honoring patriots and veterans.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include the commemorative ceremony, a variety of exhibition booths, experience booths, and side events.
The exhibition booths will feature: ▲Introduction to the 10 veterans organizations in Gijang-gun ▲Exhibitions of personal collections and photos (videos) ▲Writing thank-you letters to national heroes. The experience booths will offer: ▲Hero costume experience ▲Student soldier shooting and battlefield experience ▲Patriotic song puzzle ▲Making peace pinwheels ▲Decorating your own Taegeukgi ▲Patriots and veterans four-cut photo zone, providing a variety of fun activities for the whole family.
Mayor Jung Jongbok stated, "I extend my respect and gratitude to the national patriots and their families who made today's Republic of Korea possible," and added, "I hope this will be a meaningful time for all residents to remember the noble spirit of our fallen heroes and patriots."
On the 22nd, Gijang County will hold the "2024 Gijang County Patriotism and Veterans Appreciation Festival."
