Haman County in Gyeongnam announced on the 13th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Chilwon-eup Administrative Welfare Center on the 12th and is aiming to open the new center in the second half of 2025.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Haman County Mayor Cho Geunje, Haman County Council Chairman Kwak Sehun, Vice Chairman Jo Manje, Provincial Councilor Jo Inje, county council members, Chilwon-eup Office Construction Promotion Committee Chairman Yoon Byeonggeun, the first Chilwon-eup Office Construction Promotion Committee Chairman Park Gyechul, as well as heads of related organizations and social groups in Chilwon-eup, residents, and about 100 related officials.

The distinguished guests who attended the event jointly participated in a commemorative groundbreaking to mark the start of construction and held a safety prayer ceremony wishing for the smooth progress of the project.

The Chilwon-eup Administrative Welfare Center, built in 1985, has been vulnerable to earthquakes and has become outdated, causing various inconveniences for residents. In addition, it is the smallest office in the county relative to the population of each town and township, which limited the provision of administrative services. Therefore, a committee for the construction of a new office was formed in 2018, and after much difficulty, the site for the new building was finally decided.

With a total project cost of 17.6 billion KRW (7.8 billion KRW for land acquisition, 8.6 billion KRW for construction, and 1.2 billion KRW for other expenses), the new building will be constructed on a 3,996㎡ site with one basement floor and four above-ground floors, totaling a floor area of 2,211㎡. The first and second floors above ground will house the Chilwon-eup office, while the second and third floors will serve as a community center, making it a multifunctional administrative complex scheduled to open in the second half of 2025.

Mayor Cho stated, "We planned this as a multifunctional facility combining the administrative office and community center after being selected for the Rural Central Area Revitalization Project, which we applied for to secure project funding. I am very pleased to be able to provide an administrative complex space for residents," adding, "We will proceed with the construction without delay until next year so that it can become a space for administration, culture, and communication for the residents."
