Children from ‘Aejaram Group Home,’ a child welfare facility located in Songjeong 1-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, recently donated 620,000 KRW from the proceeds of a flea market (plimarket). Since 2022, they have practiced sharing every year with the sentiment of “supporting the dreams of older sisters and brothers.”
According to Songjeong 1-dong on the 12th, five children from Aejaram Group Home delivered the donation to the Together Gwangsan Sharing Culture Foundation the day before.
Earlier, on the 1st, the children participated in a flea market organized by the Songjeong 1-dong Residents’ Autonomy Committee, where they sold homemade iced tea.
The donated money was raised through flea market proceeds and other means. The children said, “We hope the money will be used to support the dreams of older sisters, brothers, hyungs, and noonas who are facing difficult circumstances,” and donated the entire amount.
Having donated the village flea market proceeds every year since 2022, marking their third ‘sharing seal’ this year, the children expressed their intention to “take more interest in and participate in activities for not only ourselves but also our community and neighbors.”
A Songjeong 1-dong official said, “The children’s warm hearts will be a great help to local youth in need,” adding, “We hope this will serve as an opportunity to move toward a village community that thinks of, helps, and shares with each other during these difficult times of economic downturn.”
