An accident occurred at a kindergarten in Changwon, Gyeongnam, where a rooftop structure collapsed just before the children were dismissed.
According to the Changwon Fire Department, at around 4:05 p.m. on the 10th, a Styrofoam decorative structure installed on the roof of a kindergarten in Seongsan-gu, Changwon, collapsed from the third floor height.
The structure, which was attached to the edge of the rooftop exterior wall, fell down, scattering debris onto the road and surrounding areas.
At the time, there were about 160 to 170 children aged 5 to 7 and 19 teachers inside the building, and parents were waiting outside to pick up their children, but no casualties occurred.
The dispatched fire authorities notified the city hall duty office of the situation and completed safety measures such as setting up a control line at the scene.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the collapse.
