Criticism of North Korea's Missiles and North Korea-Russia Military Cooperation at the G7 Summit

Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) are planning to criticize North Korea's ballistic missile development and North Korea-Russia military cooperation at the summit to be held in Italy from the 13th to the 15th (local time), Kyodo News reported on the 10th, citing sources.

The leaders of the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom, Canada, Germany, France, and Italy are expected to condemn North Korea's ballistic missile development in a statement and point out that Russia's procurement of missiles from North Korea violates United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Earlier, the G7 foreign ministers issued a joint statement calling for an end to illegal arms transactions between North Korea and Russia.

Regarding relations with China and Taiwan, the statement is planned to specify that peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait are "indispensable for international security and prosperity."

They will also demand that China increase pressure on Russia to stop its invasion of Ukraine.

The G7 is also expected to reaffirm its commitment to continue military, political, and economic support for Ukraine. They are considering using frozen Russian assets, which Western countries have frozen since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, to support Ukraine. Additionally, regarding the Gaza conflict, discussions are underway to include a statement after consultations among the G7 leaders.
