Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced on the 30th that it will hold a special lecture on career redesign and reemployment for women who temporarily paused their economic activities due to childbirth and childcare on the 3rd of next month.

Jae-eun Lee, CEO of Seocho Women’s Job Corporation, will serve as the instructor and deliver a vivid lecture under the theme "When You Miss Work Again," covering ▲characteristics that appear when returning to work after a career break ▲stories experienced after employing women with career gaps ▲the necessity of career integration and a shift in perspective rather than career interruption ▲habits and actions to start immediately, and the attitudes and competencies needed to prepare for returning to work.

CEO Lee operates a women’s employment-specialized organization that creates work-life balance-centered jobs by discovering and employing jobs suitable for women with career gaps, and has authored several books including "The Legacy Called Mom" and "The Naked Resume."

In particular, the lecture will enhance engagement by focusing on case studies such as stories experienced by women after employment following career breaks and examples of successful and failed hiring. There will also be a Q&A session to address questions and share opinions.

The special lecture is free and open to any woman who wishes to return to work, with 100 seats available on a first-come, first-served basis without assigned seating. For more details, please contact the Women and Family Division of Nowon-gu Office.

According to 2023 statistics from Seoul City, there are approximately 1.3 million married women aged 15 to 54, of whom about 180,000 are women with career gaps, accounting for approximately 13.6% of married women experiencing career interruption. In response, the district empathizes with the need for career redesign along with creating a flexible working environment (such as parental leave and childcare time) and has prepared this special lecture for women with career gaps.

As part of creating a flexible working environment to reduce career interruptions among women, Nowon-gu is actively discovering and implementing lifecycle-tailored childcare policies that residents can feel, as well as building infrastructure for a child-friendly environment.

Representative examples include the "Nowon Safe Daycare Center," which improves the quality of childcare by reducing the number of children per teacher; the "Child-Friendly Taxi," which provides dedicated vehicles when infants, toddlers, or infertile couples visit hospitals or childcare facilities; and the "I-Hu Center," the nation’s first after-school care facility for elementary students.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, "I hope this special lecture will serve as a stepping stone for women with career gaps in the region to regain confidence and attempt reemployment," adding, "We will continue policy efforts to prevent career interruptions and maintain employment for women."
