Boseong Fire Station's Initiative to Create Fire-Safe Island Areas Draws Attention

Jangdo Busu Village Designated as 'Fire-Free Safe Village'

Delivery of Residential Fire Safety Equipment and New Installation of Fire Hydrants

The Boseong Fire Station of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters is making every effort to "protect safety" in island areas vulnerable to fire.

The Boseong Fire Station (Chief Jeong Yong-in) announced on the 28th that Busu Village, located on Jangdo Island in Beolgyo-eup, has been designated as a "Fire-Free Safe Village."

Boseong Fire Station's Initiative to Create Fire-Safe Island Areas Draws Attention

Busu Village on Jangdo Island was selected because it is a remote island area with limited firefighting resources, making initial response difficult and rapid dispatch challenging in the event of a fire.

On this day, the Boseong Fire Station conducted ▲a handover ceremony for residential fire safety equipment and gas timers ▲new installation of 3 fire hydrants and 1 emergency fire equipment box ▲new installation of 5 fire extinguisher boxes in alleyways ▲appointment ceremony of Kim Myeong-hee, village chief, as an honorary firefighter ▲provision of customized daily medical services by the Life Safety Patrol.

In particular, Chief Jeong Yong-in also donated funds for village development.

Jeong Yong-in, Chief of the Boseong Fire Station, said, "In island areas, accessibility for firefighting forces is low when fires occur, so initial response is most important. We will do our best as the Boseong Fire Station to install and distribute ground-type fire hydrants, emergency fire equipment boxes, and automatic diffusion fire extinguishers in fire-vulnerable areas including islands until the day they become safe."

Meanwhile, before Busu Village, Hagot Village in Beolgyo-eup was also designated as a Fire-Free Safe Village, and last year, four villages were selected and managed.
