Pyeongtaek City Provides 50 Million Won Support to 10 Alley Market Communities

On the 28th, Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will provide a total of 50 million KRW to 10 local alleyway commercial community groups (merchant associations) to revitalize the local commercial districts.

Pyeongtaek City Provides 50 Million Won Support to 10 Alley Market Communities

This support is part of the city's newly implemented "Alleyway Commercial Community Revitalization Support Project" for this year. An alleyway commercial community refers to a merchant association organized by 30 or more stores. The city plans to provide 5 million KRW to each of the 10 selected merchant associations.

The support areas include ▲ joint marketing such as cultural performances, discount events, development of specialized products, and guide maps ▲ facility and environment improvements such as installation of shared signboards and landscape enhancement ▲ strengthening alleyway commercial organizations (study tours to advanced sites), among others.

The support conditions require that the merchant association recognized by the city must have 30 or more members within a designated area, be registered as a non-profit corporation, and have no overlap between commercial districts or merchant members. The evaluation criteria include three areas: project plan suitability, expected community effect, and necessity of support. The deadline for submitting project plans and documents for the application is June 21.

Jangseon Jeong, Mayor of Pyeongtaek City, stated, "Through this new community revitalization project, we will inject vitality into the stagnant commercial districts and support the revitalization of the local economy by strengthening the competitiveness of small business owners."
