Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Fishery Food Export Complex Integrating Production, Processing, Distribution, and Export
Mokpo City (Mayor Park Hong-ryul) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new export complex that will serve as a foothold for the advancement of the seafood food industry on the 30th.
According to the city on the 28th, about 300 people including Mayor Park Hong-ryul, government officials, local governments, seafood-related companies and associations, and local residents are expected to attend the event held at the site prepared within the Daeyang General Industrial Complex.
From 2016 to 2025, with a total project cost of 120 billion KRW, this project will build processing plants of 4 to 5 floors above ground, an international dried seaweed trading center, research facilities, frozen and refrigerated warehouses, and export support facilities on a site area of 28,133㎡ and a total floor area of 46,612㎥. The purpose is to create a seafood food cluster that establishes a comprehensive support system from production to processing, distribution, and export of seafood products.
Mayor Park Hong-ryul stated, "This seafood food export complex is expected to attract 36 companies, create employment for about 2,000 people, and activate production worth more than 200 billion KRW, becoming a new growth engine for Mokpo."
He added, "This project is expected to have a significant impact on the economic development of Mokpo City and is anticipated to serve as an opportunity to promote the abundant seafood products of the sea to the world."
The seafood food export complex in Mokpo City is expected to inject new vitality into the local economy and play a major role in strengthening competitiveness in the international market through cooperation with related industries.
