'Maejaengi-gol Nuri-gil' Created in Surisan Provincial Park... 1.5 Billion KRW Invested

Gyeonggi Province is creating the ‘Surisan Maejaengigol Nuri-gil’ trail in Surisan Provincial Park, which represents the southwestern region of Gyeonggi.

The Surisan Maejaengigol Nuri-gil project has been confirmed as an environmental and cultural project in the development-restricted zone by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport this year, receiving 1.05 billion KRW in national funding. A total of 1.5 billion KRW will be invested, with detailed design starting in May, followed by administrative procedures such as permits for activities in the development-restricted zone, aiming for completion by the end of this year.

The main facilities include ▲ establishment of a new Nuri-gil trail section between Maejaengigol and Gunwoong Forest ▲ creation of an existing forest trail between Maejaengigol and Nabdeokgol ▲ installation of convenience facilities ▲ installation of signboards ▲ and tree planting.

Gyeonggi Province plans to focus on preventing safety accidents and creating natural recreational spaces for local residents and visitors to Surisan Provincial Park.

Lee Jeong-su, Director of the Garden Industry Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Surisan Provincial Park is located in the metropolitan area and is a popular destination for families. We will strive to provide a pleasant natural park service where visitors can appreciate the beauty of Surisan through continuous maintenance of the provincial park facilities."

Surisan Provincial Park was designated as the third provincial park in Gyeonggi Province and is an ecological axis of the Hannam Jeongmaek mountain range located at the borders of Gunpo, Anyang, and Ansan cities. It attracts about 3 million visitors annually.
