Second Alcohol Week for One Week Starting from the 24th of This Month
First Discount Event for Yantai Kaoliang Liquor...Makgeolli 10% Discount
Emart announced on the 23rd that it will hold the second week of the ‘Liquor Week’ event in the first half of the year, offering up to 40% discounts on popular whiskies and gaoliang liquors.
The ‘Liquor Week,’ which runs for a week from the 24th to the 30th, has selected whiskey as the main promotional item reflecting recent liquor trends, and also offers discounts on other liquors including Yantai Gaoliang liquor and Makgeolli.
Emart’s whiskey sales increased by 18% in 2023 compared to 2022, and from January to April 2024, sales rose by 26% compared to the same period last year, maintaining a strong growth trend. Additionally, the share of Emart’s total liquor sales accounted for by whiskey and gaoliang liquor has gradually expanded, from 15% in 2022 to 17% last year, and reached 21% in January to April this year, surpassing the 20% mark in total liquor sales for the first time.
Representative products include The Balvenie 12 Year DoubleWood (700㎖, UK) at a promotional price of 99,000 KRW, and Suntory Kakubin (700㎖, Japan), famous for highball, at 37,800 KRW. Among whiskey enthusiasts, Wild Turkey Rare Breed (750㎖, USA) is offered at 84,000 KRW, Russell’s Reserve 10 Year (750㎖, USA) is available at a 30% discount from the regular price for 69,300 KRW, and Dewar’s White Label (700㎖, UK) is sold at a 40% discount for 19,800 KRW.
In addition, Yantai Gaoliang liquor (500㎖, China), first sold in 2017, is being promoted for the first time in this event, offered at a 20% discount from the regular price of 18,000 KRW to 14,400 KRW. Also, a 10% discount is applied when purchasing two bottles of all types of domestic traditional raw Makgeolli. Famous brands such as Haechang, Jipyeong, Jangsu, Boksundoga, and Kooksoondang are participating in this event.
SSG.com is also holding the second week of the ‘Liquor WEEK’ online event focusing on traditional liquors during the same period. Through the food vertical ‘Misikgwan,’ they are showcasing video content highlighting the popular traditional liquor ‘Chusa40,’ made from Yesan apples, with the theme ‘High-proof traditional liquors rivaling whiskey.’
Go Ara, Emart’s liquor buyer, said, “We planned a trendy liquor special event centered on whiskey, which has recently gained popularity,” and added, “Following last week’s Super Wine Festa, we hope customers can ‘score great deals’ on various popular products during the second week of Liquor Week.”
