As the National Assembly prepares for a re-vote on the 'Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act' (Special Prosecutor Act concerning allegations of investigation interference in the death of Marine Corps member Chae Sang-byeong), the ruling and opposition parties have entered a sharp confrontation once again. The People Power Party argues for rejection, citing that there has never been a special prosecutor introduced without bipartisan agreement and that the investigation into Chae Sang-byeong's death is currently ongoing. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Korea has begun rallying support for approval, even mentioning the possibility of 'presidential impeachment' in response to President Yoon Seok-yeol's exercise of the special prosecutor law's re-request (veto) power. On the 21st, the government held a Cabinet meeting and recommended that President Yoon exercise his veto power against the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Act.
