Special Management Measures Poster for Underground Performance Venues by Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is implementing special safety management measures to prevent fires in underground performance venues, including forming a consultative body to promote autonomous safety management and conducting audience participation fire safety drills.
There are a total of 41 underground performance venues in Gyeonggi-do, including 14 theaters, 17 movie screening rooms, and 10 entertainment halls and music halls.
The Fire and Disaster Headquarters will first establish a consultative body involving local government departments, underground performance venue owners, and the relevant fire stations to hold regular meetings and promote autonomous safety management.
Additionally, in collaboration with the performance venues, audience participation fire safety drills will be conducted to guide attendees on initial fire suppression and evacuation procedures in emergency situations.
Furthermore, five large underground performance venues in the province?three theaters and two music halls?will be selected as fire risk assessment and priority management targets. They will be assigned safety ratings based on evaluation indicators such as building structure and maintenance of fire safety facilities, and then managed intensively.
Moreover, fire safety inspections will be conducted, including emergency exit checks to secure evacuation routes and removal of obstructions along evacuation paths.
Cho Seon-ho, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, emphasized, "Starting from May, the month of family, we will strengthen the safety of underground performance venues through special safety management measures and create an environment where residents can enjoy cultural activities with peace of mind."
Meanwhile, over the past five years, 43,316 fires have occurred in the Gyeonggi area, of which 1,578 cases, accounting for 3.6% of the total, occurred in underground floors.
