Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on the illegal circulation of the local currency 'Osaekjeon' until the end of this month.
The city plans to collaborate with Kona I Co., Ltd., the local currency operation agency, to extract suspicious transactions of illegal circulation in advance through the 'Abnormal Transaction Detection System' and crack down on the corresponding merchants.
The main targets of the crackdown include ▲receiving or exchanging gift certificates without selling goods or providing services ▲merchants operating in restricted business sectors ▲refusal to accept 'Osaekjeon' payments ▲refusal to issue cash receipts or treating customers less favorably compared to cash payments.
Cases of illegal circulation confirmed during the crackdown period will be subject to administrative and financial sanctions according to relevant laws and regulations. A city official stated, "Even outside the crackdown period, we plan to pursue the establishment of a sound distribution order through continuous inspection and management of illegal circulation of Osaekjeon."
