Busan City Signs ESG Council Business Agreement with Five Public Corporations

Commitment to Building Sustainable ESG Culture and Fulfilling Social Responsibility

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC, President Kim Yonghak) announced on the 17th that it has signed an "ESG Council Business Agreement" with five public organizations in Busan to promote the spread of ESG management in the local community and address current issues.


The signing ceremony was attended by a total of five local public enterprises, including BMC, Busan Transportation Corporation, Busan Tourism Organization, Busan Facilities Corporation, and Busan Environmental Corporation.


The five public enterprises agreed on the operation of the ESG Council, creating effects from implementing ESG management, revitalizing sustainable management in the local community, and promoting communication and harmony among organizations. They pledged to identify key issues for community development and respond to them together.


In addition, they decided to strengthen their mutual cooperation system and jointly promote ESG management activities for regional co-prosperity by utilizing the resources and capabilities of each institution.


To systematically promote ESG management, BMC has established an ESG Management Department and an ESG Management Advisory Committee, and is working to lead ESG management in the region by establishing ESG management strategies, joining the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), and publishing a sustainability management report.


Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, stated, "Through the operation of the ESG Council, we will focus all our efforts on identifying joint tasks that contribute to the local community and establishing a model that leads the spread of ESG management values."
