Telecommunication Fee Information Portal 'Smart Choice' Revamp
The telecommunications fee information portal 'Smart Choice' now allows users to compare benefits by telecom providers and check online video service (OTT) fees.
On the 16th, the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Telecommunications Operators Association (KTOA) improved the Smart Choice portal to help users easily understand telecommunications fee-related terms and compare benefits among telecom providers.
First, an example explanation menu was added to the device subsidy inquiry service. This enables users unfamiliar with the terms to understand them easily and compare benefits directly based on this.
A feature was added that provides a detailed comparison of benefits between device subsidies and selected contract fee discounts when searching by selecting the device model and fee level.
Through the 'Calculate Monthly Payment' menu, users can also compare the expected monthly payment between device subsidies and selected contract fee discounts based on the chosen device model and plan.
Links to the websites of the three major mobile carriers, where actual usage over the past three months can be checked, were also added.
Additionally, a new OTT bundled product category was established in the 'Find a Plan' menu. When users select their desired OTT service, they can view telecom plans and additional service information bundled with that OTT service.
Furthermore, the current basic plans of five OTT providers, including TVING, can also be checked.
A new situation-based 'Case-Centered Telecom Consumer Card News' menu was created to explain considerations from the user's perspective during mobile device purchase and service subscription processes.
The Ministry of Science and ICT stated, "Since we have strengthened the provision of information on OTT discount benefits this time, we hope it will help users use telecom and OTT services at more reasonable prices."
