Ulsan Water Bill Collection Proves Profitable... 584 Million Won Collected in First Half of Year

The Ulsan Waterworks Headquarters recently collected over 500 million won in overdue fees, enjoying a substantial gain.

The Waterworks Headquarters announced on the 15th that it had achieved the collection of 584 million won in overdue water fees during the "Special Collection Period for Overdue Fees in the First Half of the Year," which was conducted from March to April.

The Waterworks Headquarters operated this special collection period to raise awareness about the payment of public utility charges and to secure finances for the special accounting of the waterworks project.

As of the end of February this year, the overdue water fees amounted to 780 million won. The main reasons for overdue payments were simple negligence, which accounted for 238 million won, and business downturns, which accounted for 542 million won.

During this period, the Waterworks Headquarters focused on intensive individual collection efforts targeting 292 major delinquent payers with overdue amounts of 500,000 won or more, and 3,669 habitual delinquents with overdue payments for more than three months, achieving the collection of 75% of the total overdue amount.

An official from the Waterworks Headquarters stated, "Revenue from water fees is used as financial resources for replacing old pipes, installing water supply pipes, and expanding reservoirs to ensure a stable and clean water supply," and added, "We hope that customers will pay their bills on time to avoid inconveniences such as water service suspension due to overdue payments."

The Waterworks Headquarters plans to operate a "Special Collection Period for Overdue Fees in the Second Half of the Year" in September and October, and will actively carry out collection activities such as on-site visits to encourage payment.
