The Changwon Maritime Police will promote the ongoing “Wear a Life Jacket at Sea!” campaign to spread maritime safety culture, and life jackets used as learning materials will be given as gifts to participating students.
Bae Daehan, a former national swimming team candidate and certified children's sports instructor, will serve as the lead instructor for the Coastal Safety Class.
At Masansinwol Elementary School, where the first Neulbom School session by the Changwon Maritime Police was held on the 14th, Chief Kim Youngcheol personally helped students put on life jackets and taught them the correct way to wear them, supporting the successful operation of the program.

Chief Kim said, “Through the Neulbom School Coastal Safety Class, I hope that proper water safety rules such as wearing life jackets will become second nature from a young age so that children can enjoy water activities safely. This year as well, Changwon Maritime Police will do our utmost to establish a maritime safety culture and protect the lives of citizens.”
Kim, a first-grade student at Masansinwol Elementary School, said, “In summer, I go to the sea or swimming pool with my family. I will remember how to wear a life jacket properly, as I learned this time, and make sure to wear it correctly and play safely this summer.”
Neulbom School is a comprehensive educational program that supports students’ growth and development by connecting various educational resources from schools and the local community outside of regular classes. It integrates the existing elementary after-school classes and care services.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education has operated the Neulbom integrated care center since 2021 and started the Gyeongnam-style Neulbom School this year. In the first semester, it targets 159 schools in the province and plans to expand to all elementary schools in the second semester.
