According to Chinese media including China.com on the 14th, a man known as Deng in Xinwu City, Jiangxi Province, purchased a BYD new energy vehicle (electric car, hybrid car, hydrogen car, etc.). However, on the 4th, less than a month after the purchase, an electric current suddenly flowed inside the vehicle causing an accident, and Deng was electrocuted and collapsed due to a cerebral hemorrhage. He was transported to the hospital but fell into a coma. Medical staff told the media, "He may suffer lifelong paralysis."
According to his family and the black box footage from inside the vehicle posted on social media, Deng appeared to be inside the car when he suddenly seemed to receive some kind of shock and tried to unbuckle his seatbelt but repeatedly failed. After several attempts, he managed to unbuckle the seatbelt and escape from the vehicle. His family went to the dealership where the car was sold and held a protest with placards showing photos of him in a coma. Local media reported that the automaker BYD suspects electrocution due to a leakage current.

Chinese netizens are shocked by the fact that the driver suffered a cerebral hemorrhage after electrocution. On Baidu’s automotive community "Youjia," comments included, "It is very serious that electricity can cause cerebral hemorrhage," and "I can’t believe a cerebral hemorrhage actually occurred after electrocution." Netizens said, "The car owner may have experienced cerebral hemorrhage after electrocution, or cerebral hemorrhage caused by a collision after electrocution," but also noted, "Many car owners have reported leakage issues with new energy vehicles, and new energy vehicles have once again been pushed to the forefront." In fact, in China, many car owners and passengers say they feel dizzy when driving or riding in electric vehicles.
