Samyang Round Square held a surprise party for an American girl who became a sensation after bursting into tears upon receiving 'Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon' as a birthday gift. The girl's name is Adaline Sophia. The video of Adaline shedding tears was posted on TikTok and Instagram in early last month and has since garnered approximately 100 million views. Likes have surpassed 10 million.

On the 14th, Samyang Round Square announced that it sent employees to San Antonio, Texas, where Adaline lives, to carry out a reverse gift event expressing gratitude. This was inspired by the reverse gift culture where celebrities give gifts to their fans. Samyang Round Square decorated a van in a pink theme matching the color of Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon and prepared 150 boxes of the product (about 1,000 individual items). They also planned a surprise party in the front yard and backyard with pre-arranged family members, decorated with Buldak Bokkeummyeon products, balloons, garlands, and more.


When Adaline came outside and spotted the Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon van, she showed a surprised expression and tilted her head briefly, but soon burst into tears of joy, sharing a heartfelt hug with a large hotch mascot. Seeing the surprise party set up in the backyard, Adaline shed tears once more and smiled brightly while taking commemorative photos and receiving gifts. The event concluded with Adaline and her family wearing Buldak Bokkeummyeon T-shirts and enjoying a ramen party together.


The video capturing this process was posted on social media on the 12th (local time) and attracted attention with over 14 million views and 2.7 million likes within about 22 hours of posting (as of 9 a.m. KST on the 14th). Global netizens who saw the video responded enthusiastically, saying things like, "Thank you to Buldak Bokkeummyeon for blessing this young child," "This is exactly why I love Buldak," and "That lovely girl deserves the love of Buldak Bokkeummyeon."


A representative from Samyang Round Square said, "We planned this event to repay the affection for Buldak Bokkeummyeon right after Adaline's birthday party video went viral. Since Buldak Bokkeummyeon has grown into a brand with a fandom, we will continue to plan many activities for fans and listen carefully to provide diverse joys based on active communication."


Meanwhile, the New York Times (NYT) in the United States reported on the popularity of Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon in an article titled "Wishing You Luck in Getting Carbo Buldak Bokkeummyeon" on the 19th of last month. This once again proved that the Buldak Bokkeummyeon brand has become a global trend and icon transcending age, gender, and race beyond just a simple food product. Riding on this popularity, Buldak Bokkeummyeon surpassed 5 billion cumulative sales as of last year and continues to break sales records annually, maintaining its popularity.
