At around 8:39 a.m. on the 14th, Choi, who came out of the Seocho Police Station in Seoul for prosecution transfer, did not answer reporters' questions such as "Is it true that you planned the crime after being told to break up?", "Did you have the intention to kill from the beginning?", "When did you start planning the crime?", "Did you try to cover up the crime?", and "What did you say during the profiler interview?" and got into the escort vehicle. It is known that Choi scored a perfect score on the College Scholastic Ability Test and is currently enrolled in a prestigious medical school in Seoul.
Choi is accused of wielding a weapon and killing his girlfriend of the same age on the rooftop of a building near Gangnam Station in Seocho-gu at around 5 p.m. on the 6th. The police responded to a report that "a man was trying to jump from the rooftop," pulled him out, and during the process of rechecking the scene after hearing that he left a bag containing drugs, they discovered the deceased victim and urgently arrested Choi. An autopsy of the victim's body revealed that the cause of death was bleeding from stab wounds (exsanguination due to self-inflicted wounds).
During the police investigation, Choi stated that he committed the crime because his girlfriend said "let's break up." Evidence also emerged that he prepared for the crime in advance, such as purchasing the weapon two hours before the crime at a large supermarket in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, and calling the victim out.
The police deployed profilers to interview Choi on the 10th and 11th. The psychopathy diagnosis test (PCL-R) for Choi is scheduled to be conducted after the prosecution transfer. A police official said, "The profiler conducted a general psychological test, but since the evaluation and conclusion are made after the interview and gathering, it will take about a week."
