Operating Profit of 2 Billion KRW Last Year... 700 Million KRW the Previous Year
Increased Profits Due to Growth in Pet Dog Training Service Sales
Last year, the operating profit of Bodeum Company, led by dog trainer Kang Hyeong-wook, who is well known by the nickname "Gaetongryeong (Dog + President)," tripled compared to the previous year.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 13th, Bodeum Company's operating profit last year was 2,031.84 million KRW. This figure is nearly three times higher than the 740.35 million KRW recorded the previous year.
Bodeum Company's sales last year amounted to 4,866.78 million KRW, a 12% increase from 4,358.10 million KRW the year before. Among last year's sales, revenue from Bodeum Education, a dog training service, accounted for the majority at 4,213.69 million KRW.
The remaining 700 million KRW in sales came from pet products and other merchandise. The increase in sales in the relatively profitable dog training service sector appears to have significantly boosted operating profit.
Founded in 2014, Bodeum Company is wholly owned by Kang, holding 100% of the shares. Bodeum Company sold dog training programs such as the 5.99 million KRW "365-Day Master Plan Full Package" and the 3.99 million KRW "365-Day VVIP Full Package." Most of these high-priced training programs include schedules where Kang personally conducts the dog training.
However, starting this month, Bodeum Company announced on its website that it will terminate the Bodeum Education main phone line and will only accept inquiries through the website's one-on-one inquiry system. This is because the Bodeum Education service will end on the 30th of next month.
After the final lesson, from July 1, individual refunds will be processed for the remaining solution period. Regarding this system reform, Bodeum Company only cited internal circumstances without providing further explanation. Currently, on the website, programs where Kang conducts training are not available for application; only programs led by other trainers can be applied for.
Bodeum Company is also reportedly planning to sell some of its real estate holdings. The company owns assets valued at approximately 10.5 billion KRW in land and 5.3 billion KRW in buildings based on book value, located in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, among other places. The pet product sales business, Bodeum Shop, will continue operations under its subsidiary "Puppies." Bodeum Company holds a 50% stake in Puppies.
Currently, Kang Hyeong-wook appears on KBS2TV's "Dogs Are Incredible," diagnosing problems with companion dogs and suggesting solutions.
