On the 12th (local time), at the Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,558 yards) in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, he achieved a commanding 5-stroke victory at the PGA Tour's "premier event" Wells Fargo Championship (total prize money $20 million). He has now won the Wells Fargo Championship four times. This marks his second consecutive win following his victory at the Zurich Classic, a two-man team event, two weeks ago. This is his second win of the year and 26th career victory, earning a winner's prize of $3.6 million (approximately 4.9 billion KRW).

Starting the final day one stroke behind in second place, he racked up two eagles and five birdies (with one bogey and one double bogey). At the 10th hole, he made a 10-meter long putt eagle, and at the 15th hole (both par 5s), he made an eagle from a bunker shot. "People have watched me win this tournament at age 20 and grow since then," he said. "With the PGA Championship major coming up next week, I have more confidence in my swing than ever before," he asserted.

McIlroy was flawless with his driver, irons, and putter throughout the four days of this tournament. Using the TaylorMade Qi10 driver, he averaged 337 yards (1st place). With the TaylorMade Ross Proto irons, he recorded a greens in regulation rate of 68.06% (2nd place). Equipped with the TaylorMade Spider Tour X3 putter, he averaged 1.63 putts per green hit (4th place). Before winning the Zurich Classic, McIlroy had been somewhat underperforming, but he has now returned to his former prime form.
