Italian Model Eugenio Casnigi
Suddenly Fired 3 Days Before Met Gala
"I Got Fired Because I Became Famous"
The story of a 20-year-old Italian man who was fired because of his handsome looks has attracted attention.
Foreign media such as the British Independent reported that Eugenio Casnigi (26), an Italian model who worked as staff at last year's Met Gala, was fired at this year's Met Gala. He gained attention when he was exposed to cameras while performing security duties next to model Kylie Jenner at the 2023 Met Gala. Casnigi also appeared in last year's Met Gala interview video with BLACKPINK member Jennie, which became a hot topic.
Casnigi recently expressed his frustration about being fired through his TikTok account. He claimed, "I was just fired from the Met Gala," and "I was fired because I became famous last year." Casnigi revealed that he was suddenly fired three days before the event, saying, "They told me, 'You are acting like the main character, so we can't let you work here. Sorry.'"
Casnigi said he could not understand the situation where the event recruitment agency hired him based on his looks but then fired him precisely because he was handsome. He expressed his frustration, saying, "Met Gala staff are professional models hired by the organizers. They do their best at the event to help their careers. But the organizers blamed me, saying I stood out too much and overshadowed Kylie Jenner."
Casnigi posted another video claiming that he was not the only employee who was fired. It was also reported that at this year's Met Gala, to prevent similar situations, models were prohibited from taking photos on the set and from posting anything related to the Met Gala on social media.
Meanwhile, the Met Gala is the largest fashion charity event in the United States, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and has been held since 1948. Every year on the first Monday of May, celebrities from around the world showcase various fashions and styles according to the dress code, attracting attention. This year's dress code was 'The Garden of Time.'
