This comic was created to easily explain the prohibited zones for water leisure activities within Jeju as the number of visitors to the beach increases with warmer weather.

"Water leisure activities" refer to all activities conducted on water using water leisure equipment for purposes such as hobbies, entertainment, sports, and education, with fishing also considered part of hobby activities.

Regarding the prohibited zones for water leisure activities in Jeju City, first, following the full approval of Chinese cruise tourism (August 2023) and the revision of the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Trade Port Facility Operation Regulations, all vessel operations are banned in the Jeju Outer Port route designated waters, and violations may result in fines of up to 5 million KRW.

Second, Jeju Port is a trade port, and Hallim Port is a coastal port where large vessels, passenger ships, and fishing boats frequently enter and exit. These areas are designated as zones requiring permission for marine leisure activities. To engage in water leisure activities in these zones, prior approval is necessary. Violations may incur fines up to 1 million KRW, with three violations recorded in 2020 and three in 2022.

Third, the sea area within 150 meters in front of the breakwater of the Korea Midland Power Jeju Power Plant, a nationally important facility, is designated as a year-round prohibited zone for water leisure activities. During the beach opening period, all water leisure equipment activities are banned within 10 meters inside and outside the swimming boundary line, and violations may result in fines up to 1 million KRW.

For detailed information, inquiries can be made to the Water Leisure Division of Jeju Maritime Police Station.

A Jeju Maritime Police official stated, "Passing through the above-mentioned waters is allowed, but engaging in water leisure activities such as fishing in these zones is subject to fines and penalties," and added, "For your own safety, please be sure to check the water leisure activity prohibited zones before participating in any water leisure activities."
