Yoon In-chon: "Activating Korea-France Cultural Exchange through Paris Olympiad Culture"

Meeting with Dominic Hervieu, General Director, to Discuss Collaboration

On the 2nd, Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, met with Dominique Hervieu, General Director of Paris Olympiad Culture, at the Korea Center in Paris, France, to discuss cultural exchange plans between Korea and France. Paris Olympiad Culture is a cultural and artistic program conducted by the French government ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. As of that day, 1,900 related events have been held across France, and 1,600 events have received the Paris Olympiad Culture label.

The '2024 Korea Season,' which the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is carrying out for six months from this month in Paris, Avignon, Aurillac, Nantes, and other cities, belongs to the latter category. It aims to convey the diversity and originality of Korean culture to people worldwide through the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games. Minister Yoo said, "I am pleased to meet a dancer and choreographer representing France," adding, "It is meaningful to participate in a cultural grand festival enjoyed by people around the world." He continued, "I hope you will take the lead in revitalizing cultural exchanges between Korea and France and play a significant role," and "I hope many people will enjoy Korean culture." Director Hervieu responded, "Recently, young people in France really like K-pop," and "I am very happy to be able to showcase not only Korean but also various cultural events from around the world throughout France."


The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will conduct various programs starting with a joint breaking performance between Korea and France. These include traditional Korean world music performances by Heo Yoon-jung and Park Jong-hwa, 'K-Classic' featuring emerging Korean classical musicians, the creative opera 'Cheoyong' by the National Opera Company, National Symphony Orchestra, and National Chorus, the National Contemporary Dance Company's 'Jungle,' the Lee Hee-moon Project 'Obangsin (Gods),' a performance by the orchestra Heart Heart for people with developmental disabilities, Korean pottery exhibitions, special exhibitions of 'Korean Games' and media art, special K-Book exhibitions, K-Content fairs, Cannes Film Festival film market showcases, and K-Tourism roadshows. During the Paris Olympics, a 'Korea House' will also be operated.
