‘Gijang Station’ Must Be Established Between Cheongnyangni Station and Bujeon Station
Population Influx Increases in Osiria Tourist Complex and Medical Science Industrial Complex
Busan's Gijang-gun is going 'all in' to attract a KTX-Eum stop station.
Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) announced on the 29th that it is putting all its efforts into the final push to attract the KTX-Eum train stop station, which is scheduled to be decided in October between Seoul Cheongnyangni Station and Busan Bujeon Station.
As part of the attraction campaign, from March 11 to April 19, Gijang-gun collected video message applications from residents expressing their hopes for the station stop. Based on this, a promotional video reflecting the collective desire of the entire community was recently completed.
The video is being promoted using the DID electronic display boards in the lobby of the county office and at the No. 1 public parking lot of Gijang Market. Starting with the Gijang Seaweed and Kelp Festival, the video will also be broadcast on stages at county-hosted festivals and events to spread the atmosphere of support for the attraction.
Additionally, a relay of attraction hopes is being conducted across the five towns and townships within Gijang-gun, and an all-out promotional campaign is underway using local ambassadors and various media to secure the KTX-Eum stop station in Gijang-gun.
Governor Jeong Jong-bok explained, “Gijang-gun’s Osiria Tourist Complex, which attracts 10 million visitors annually, is seeing world-renowned hotels and resorts being established one after another, causing a rapid increase in tourism transportation demand.”
He emphasized, “Considering the rapid population influx due to the establishment of 13 large-scale industrial complexes including the Southeast Radiation Medical Science General Complex and the settlement of new towns such as Jeonggwan, Ilgwang, and Jangan, attracting the KTX-Eum stop station to Gijang-gun is a demand of the times.”
Gijang-gun has actively pursued attraction efforts by completing a community-wide signature campaign and feasibility study in 2021 and 2022, and continuously submitting proposals to Korail and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to attract the KTX-Eum stop station to Gijang-gun.
